This piece was made for Mark Nasso’s Doom Ranch, a compilation featuring Texas comic artist and cartoonist. The illustration is based on a story that there’s a Walmart in Galveston, Texas that was built on a site where an orphanage once stood. The orphanage was brought down in a hurricane, and poor children were said to have all passed. Apparently curious things like toys mysteriously falling off the self by themselves in the toy aisle happen frequently at this Walmart. Even more curious is that it continues to happen each time the toy aisle is moved. Shoddy shelving? Precarious placing of product? Or Frolicking phantasms?
