Transyltown

I mentioned before that I took this character from an old sketch book and started to write Enchantment, but that was not without a lot of tweaking before hand. Here’s a look at what the hero would been like had I not made those changes:

Perpetual scowl, soul patch, badass long coat, utility belt, scar on face, sideburns, dreads, goggles, and a nonsensical accessory (zipper necklace). All the things I thought were cool when I was 18!

In Enchantment I wanted the hero to appear as a more youthful character who; although he was losing his rosy view of the world, could still channel enthusiastic energy. I de-bulked him, rounded his eyes and face, and got rid of a bunch of stuff I didn’t want to draw over and over again. Those goggles where still a pain to draw repeatedly, but I kept them because the give him an interesting silhouette  design.

The basis of the design is mostly Trunks from Dragonball; although a friend assumed Naruto. I suppose because of the spiked dreads help up by goggles design. Even though Naruto is a major influence on my art I alway associate adventure with goggles. When I think of that word the image of a classic pilot with his aviator hat, scarf and goggles comes to mind every time!
